We have all been there. Working on our cars.. perhaps having that little voice tell us to "leave well enough alone" or we push just that little bit harder and.. Snap!
It could be a dash bezel, a bolt on a trailing arm, or a manifold bolt most of us have been there.
My initial reaction is a pit in my stomach.. a few moments of beating myself up (you stupid Dumb A$$, why did you do that). Then sanity begins to kick in..
How about you folks? I am sure there has been some repair rage that caused more damage
I decided to put dual exhaust on my '77 from Corvette Central. The heat shield for the catalytic converter was in the way. So, I think the best way to remove it is to drop the trans crossmember. All of the bolts came out nicely except one snapped without much force. I spent quite some time drilling that out and trying easy outs, etc.
Heck guys, lets get some good screw up stories going!
I tried to be slick with the convertible top when I was in my 20's and tried to put it up while driving on the freeway without stopping and the results got me some attention!
Then there was a time when I tried to home mix nitromethane (drag racing fuel) for street racing and either that or the third stage of NOS practically blew the whole top half of the engine apart and oh ya, the bottom half also!
And then we all have had the breaker bar slip off and cause a black eye, fat lip, or knocked out some teeth or worse yet, the dreaded groin pull!

But its our reactions to our screw ups that would make people laugh. Like tripping and looking around to see if anyone saw you... Despite the concussion and compound fracture you limp away...

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that has done that! I figure if I don't leave blood on my project I haven't finished yet!!
Best one I have ever witnessed was my older brother trying to replace a tire on his motorcycle when I was young. The screwdriver he was using to pry the bead over the rim kept slipping and he just snapped. He stood up and threw the screwdriver at the tire/rim as hard as he could and it bounced right back and hit him square in the forehead; almost knocked him out!
