Default OBX Maximizer headers/side exhaust question

I installed the driver's side today and will do the passenger side tomorrow. For ones who have done this, does the starter need to be removed. 78 automatic.
Thanks

I got mine on without removing the starter. 78 auto. I did have to loosen the starter wires and turn them a bit to get them off the header. make sure the side pipes are seated all the way onto the header. I had to elongate the mounting holes in the frame. they will leak if not all the way seated. I also had to open up the rear hole in the header flange on passenger side to get the rear bolt in. hole was just a tad off.

I didn't have to take anything off or loose. Be sure to disconnect the battery in case you short something out. I also had to elongate one header bolt hole ( think it was the second from front.

I got them on today and had to elongate some of the header bolt holes also. Did not have to remove the starter but I do need to reposition some of the wires as stated above.
The passenger side was a breeze compared to the drivers side.
I am waiting on some rocker panels to arrive before I post any pics. I previously had the aftermarket style 69 side exhaust put on by the PO which require the rocker panels to come off.

Thanks everyone....

Thanks for this post...it saved me from doing it! I started mine last week end but had some manifold bolts break off in the heads so I'm pulling heads tomorrow morning to get the broken bolts out and will also have the heads worked while off.

Did you have any interference with the steering box or other areas that required modification by a BFH? Did you have to cut any of the lower fender flanges/rockers for clearance?

I had some interference with the steering box, had to dimple the tube a bit for clearance but no big deal.

I had to trim a little off the rockers to get them on . Use masking tape on your paint when test fitting. . Rear wheels off and slide in from rear
