My 78 did not have the rocker panel installed when I purchased the car. I have since then removed the 69 style side exhaust which required the panels be removed and installed the OBX/Maximizer headers and sde exhaust.
Now I need rocker panels and I have them on order. Can anyone who has the same brand exhaust let me know if any modifications were necessary to install the side covers after the exhaust?
Any pics to show off your OBX/Maximizer exhaust, that would really help out.
You have to jack your car up and remove the rear tires and slide the rocker panel in from the back. I had to trim a little off of the front bottom of the rocker panel on passenger side. What I've read in the past it depends on your car. You may not have to trim yours.

Thanks, it looks like the mounts for the side tubes that bolt to the frame would interfere with the rockers? My panels should be in this week then I will have a better understanding. My wife tells me all the time I like to over think things too much .....
No the OBX did not come with mounting bolts. I remember your car now I complimented you on your heat shields. Your car looks good too. And you sent me a private message.

I was able to get the passenger side rocker panel installed today before work. As mentioned before I had to cut off about 1/2" from the side tube mounting bolts but no trimming was necessary to the rocker panel. I did remove the rear wheel but in this case it was not necessary. Next on to the driver's side maybe this weekend when I have more time.

Looking good......see signature for pics......I did have to remove my rear tires to put the rocker panels back on. OBX install was pretty straight forward minus a couple of bolt holes I had to drill out and ding the headers in a few spots for clearance. On the other hand I didn't have to cut up my brand new rocker panels to fit the headers, very very close though. Hopefully yours doesn't rust or corrode like mine do!

My mount bolts had to be shaved some due to them bumping against the back of the rocker moulding. It was really no big deal just dont shave too much!!!
