There is a part underneath the coil in my 78 .. It looks like a spring that connects the coil to the distributor.. Can someone tell me what it is called,, i'm hoping to replace it and didnt know what it is and if I can just buy it by itself ?/

Thanks ,but I got it figured out,, It's a small spring that comes with the distributor cap,, it is in the compartment that the coil sets in ..

If you had been a little more specific, in your original post, we could have helped you more readily.

It appears that the part you're referring to, is the contact bushing that is in contact with the center of the distributor rotor. The bushing sits in the hole of the cap, the rubber gasket goes on next, with the spring protruding through, followed by a coating of dielectric grease on the gasket, then the coil is installed, holding everything in place.

The following is what I posted,,I don't know how a person can be more specific than that when asking about something that they dont know anything about.. There is a part underneath the coil in my 78 .. It looks like a spring that connects the coil to the distributor..
