1973 Corvette Convertible - PW,PS,PB with working AC.
- Original matching engine is in a crate for next owner.
- Has new vortec 350 installed with mild cam/lift.
- New everything in the engine bay from the alternator to the fuel pump.
- Hooker long tube ceramic coated headers with OBX side pipes and cobra heat shields.
- Most reused engine parts that do not go bad(such as the fan) have been bead blasted and coated to protect.
- New convertible top, carpet and weather stripping.
- New stinger hood, front bumper cover and new professional 10 foot paint job Matte Black(not offered in 1973).
- New proline Convo Pro wheels with cooper cobra tires.
- Aftermarket radio installed.
The bad
There's some minor rust on the car that does not jeopardize the structure/bird cage. The interior other than the radio and carpet is original and in fair/good shape. The passenger window motor will need to be replaced at some point.
With all that said. What would a fair value be to place on this vehicle? I will get some pictures up ASAP.

Well, most classic insurance companys will sell you an agreed value policy. I doubt if there are too many 42 yr old cars that do not have rust somewhere. total your receipts up, call NCM insurance and see what they can do for you.
My 73 vert is fairly similar to yours. I set the value at $15k a few months back for insurance. Hagerty accepted it without any questions after seeing the pictures.
you dont mention mileage, L48 or L82, auto or manual, if manual which one, auxiliary hardtop. All these factors effect the estimate, L82 and manual are worth more
yup, if you think it's worth $20K, buy $20K.
The insurance company will let you know if it's too much or not. I think that number will be in their average for that car though.
I just got $15K through Hagerty, I just sent them a few pictures and no questions asked. I think if i tried to get $30K or something stupid high on it they would have requested an appraisal and inspection.
But like i said, I think $20K will be about average for a '73 convertible.
Probably only a matter of a few extra dollars to go from 15,000 coverage up to 20,000. Think you'll be surprised how inexpensive it is if you meet requirements.
You just answered your own question. You should buy $20k in agreed value insurance as that is what you value the car at.
I tried getting special insurance for it, they said without an enclosed garage I do not qualify :/
Literally my current insurance covers the value of the car and any upgrades I do. Beyond saving the receipts I'd like to have second opinions on value so when its stolen(and it will be in the community I live in..) I can get what I have in it and not $6000 they have written down in their little book.

It is automatic..
The original engine had I believe 70k on it but the new engine that's in it is brand new with a total of 0 miles at the moment.
Your original post does not mention you had a figure in mind.
I just see everyone wanting $20,000+ for their C3 vettes in the trader and I figured well.. mines gotta be worth at least $15,000.
I did not have an exact figure in mind.. I just figured this car would be worth more than the average car's going for since its been partially rebuilt.
Jeez. I figured at least $16,000-$20,000 considering I cannot find a refurbished convertible anything anywhere for less than $15,000.
Guess I should stop throwing money into it at this point as I'm just tossing it away.
Thanks for the opinions..
Did you honestly think these things are an 'investment'?
I paid 11k for my '73. I've put probably 7k into it. It's still a 13k car IMO. And I still need to put more money into it. That's okay though, I enjoy it.

You know us fellow Forum members think our S**t is worth gold ..Just make sure you have enough ins. to cover your loss and always keep receipts .it's the insurance company's job in a loss to pay you as little as possible and your job to get what you paid for ,he with the most receipts wins
I took our 73 L 82 to a appraiser who has rebuilt Corvettes for many years. He asked what price we paid for the car and appraised her at that amount.Since the purchase we have spent approx $14K on a complete repaint interior restoration and mechanical improvements/ modifications.
I asked him how much the car's appraisal would increase after we spent money for all these improvements. He told me the 73's value would not increase because she has only one steel bumper. IN other words he feels that the only Corvettes worth saving was manufactured before 1973. Yep, He's entitled to his opinion but he is an *******!
I have a coupe L82 4 spd garaged with new paint ,seats, exhaust, door panels no power steering, power brake or AC agreed value 20K with Grundy would hope I could get 15k if I sold it
