Hi Everyone.
I have an issue with my parking brake handle. The release button and spring keep popping out of the handle. Is there a fix or do I have to replace the whole handle?
I had the button pop out of mine also.
I used an adhesive brand called VersaChem p/n 47809 2-part expoxy. It specifically mentions being good for metal to plastic bonding. Roughen up the rod end, degrease and bond the button back on the rod end. Tape it in the depressed position overnight so that it adheres/sets. Mine has held up for years.

I put J B Weld on my '81 brake button...still holding after about 6 yrs...Good Luck!
I`d try the JB weld also. Pull it all apart (see link above) and make sure the spring & rod are OK. If the barbed end of the rod is stripped, the JB should work to keep the button on.
I think there was a point in time a few years ago when repro'd versions of the brake handles became available. They were good quality. When they became available, I bought one. Don't know if still available.
I looked into that repo handle hard and long and it appears it's not being made anymore. I've found it in some of the vendors catalogs but most say "no longer available" and the one that let me order it notified me a week after I ordered it and said they couldn't get it any longer. I should add that I was searching for the very early years handle. Might be other years out there?
thanks too all.
I didn't know you could completely take apart the brake handle! Now I know what I can try to make sure the button stops popping off.
