I'm in the process of reinstalling the side trim/moulding and I'm starting to think that I either forgot something or the new interior trim part I have is a terrible fit.
This is what I'm looking at:
Is there supposed to be something else (a second weather strip??) in between the outer weather strip and the interior trim part? The huge gap there is pretty ugly. Any help is appreciated.
EDIT its a 76, and the SS outer trim is painted black

You don`t say what year your car is.... and the picture doesn`t work. Mine is a 71 coupe, the first piece wraps around the front to the windshield, then there`s another piece on top of that. The rubber weatherstrip goes into the second piece.....
It almost looks like your weatherstrip retainer is not right. The tab that holds the rubber in should be against the edge of the piece. Yours looks like it`s bent up and away? The rubber weatherstrip rear edge should be right along the rear edge of the retainer. Compare your pic to mine.... at least that is my best guess.
I see what you mean. I took a closer look and the tab doesn't really seem to be bent. Maybe the whole thing needs to slide over more? Idk. At this point I'm thinking of just shoving something into the gap.
