Default '68 Seat Attachment

Hello All,

How are the seats in a '68 attached to the car?

I climbed under the car and didn't see any bolts that were accessible from the bottom of the car.

Thank You,

Garrett

The heads of the bolts are accessible inside the car. The seats slide back and forth on runners (slides). There's a bolt at each end of the runner. If you look at the end of the runners, you'll see a maybe two parallel 2 1/2 inch cuts in the carpet. The cuts will allow you to lift up a small strip of carpet. When you lift up the carpet strip, you'll see the bolt head.

OK. Thanks.

Is there a nut welded onto the underside of the floor pan that the bolt threads into?

Yep Four per seat for a total of eight. The assembly instruction manual (AIM) might be a help for you.

This should only take 5 minutes per seat to remove provided the bolts aren't badly rusted. Use a 6 point socket the first time to avoid rounding off the bolts. Also having the t-tops out makes it easier to extract the unbolted seats from the car. Good luck.

I second, having an AIM. Nothing beats having all of the drawings for your year Corvette. Lou
