I just got a Harley Davidson Forty Eight for commuting purposes and as part of the deal I am getting a bigger tank and they will paint it whatever color I want. I would like something that will look good next to my 72. I was thinking of getting it matched to my car. This is not my wheelhouse though! What do you guys think? What should I do with my new tank? I am open to suggestions!
Just paint it black. It's a Harley for cryin' out loud... it's going to look good next to anything. Besides, other than when it's parked next to your Vette in the garage, is anybody going to understand a matching type paint scheme? And plain 'ol black on a Harley sells pretty easy... if you were to ever part with it. Just my 2 cents.
I vote matching to the bike, shiny black tank with matte black Harley Davidson logo on sides and maybe a small 48 logo trailing back behind cap toward seat from center.
Well Harley colors are black and orange. So you can use the Corvette orange instead of the Harley orange and have the tank painted in a factory type scheme using black and Corvette orange.
I wouldn't be too concern with having the bike and C3 match though but that's me. I like the bike as it is now.
Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to just match the color, no decals or badges though. A guy on the harley forum photoshopped this for me and I kind of dig it. I've never been a big fan of flake but this looks great!
Well I came late to this party. Truly the color it is now compliments the orange. But the orange looks sweet as well. The heavy flake is awesome either way.
But if you stayed with the blue it would compliment the orange nicely.
I agree Toonz, the current color does work well. But I am upgrading from a 2 gallon tank to a 3 gallon tank. I have to option to paint it whatever color I want. I wanted to do something different than the blue flake which I do like. It's a fairly easy swap so I can go back and forth if I want to.
