My wife's grandfather gave us his '74 Stingray Coup. The vehicle hasn't been touched in about 8 years, but ran fine when it was parked. I know it's nowhere near great condition, but we're looking on any sort of idea of it's worth. We have it listed on local ads and someone offered a 2002 Ford Tarus as a trade which seems like a bit of an insult.
It's an automatic, I'm at work right now so I can't get the mileage. Here is a picture. It's not in the best shape and I'm not expecting to get a lot out of it, but even a rough estimate of where to start would be nice.
Just because it's a vette doesnt make it high dollar...
Depending on condition of the vette like rust and other things the 2002 Ford Taurus might be better than your vette and the Taurus owner might back out when he sees the vette... the real insult might be that grandpa kindly gave you a car and you seem more concerned with it's value then the sentiment and honor of his gift to you,
The car was free....anything you get is pure profit....
Hey Giant Robot we were posting at the same time,

The whole offer with Tarus Guy just didn't sit right with me. He was from another city and was ready to just trade a running car for what we had, which in my head says he knew something about the value of this car that he was hoping we didn't.

I know it's not my business, but are you sure that's what Gramps intended (selling it) when he gave you guys the car?
Oops, sorry. I see this has been already discussed.
It looks pretty rough from the outside picture. Can you get pictures of the interior and engine compartment? I wonder what condition the frame (and birdcage) is in?
That fleabay post from 65GG is unreal. I'm not even sure the car is a 74. Wrong center console, wrong fan shroud mounts, etc.
That car is either the wrong year or a frankenstien car with parts for other years.
Not worth 4500. IMHO. more like 2500.
