I am working on the engine compartment and had a question about the are I show in my picture. I have noticed that some cars have what appears to be some goop in this area and was not sure if that is correct or not and if it is correct what is it.
Thanks in advance for helping

Your AIM page shows a metal support for the birdcage and where is was welded up.
Flip on over to the fiberglass section and see if a fiberglass cover was subsequently bonded over the support. If so, and if a factory sealant was used, there will be a call out for the sealant in the AIM.
Oh that's an excellent shot 69Fastrun. I don't know if that is correct for 69 but I like it and it seems to do the job of sealing that area. Thank you very much as well as Mooser
69Fastrun or Mooser where do you get those pieces?
Yep. Very close to the area you're working on. Looks like the piece in your AIM page eventually got covered with fiberglass. If that's the case, there could have been factory sealant applied which could be the goop you mention.

Thanks Easy Mike, I am glad I asked because what I had there was no rubber and a swirl of what looked like a black tar like substance and to boot it was not covering the hole or opening to the channel.
