Default 78 Vinyl side panel

I love my 78 but I have never (ever) been jazzed about the carpet climbing all the way to the edge of the console plate. As an option, I'm curious if anyone has seen these or used them.

I like the appearance of the earlier C3's center console where the carpet doesn't look like it needs a haircut and tries to cover the entire car. I get that 78 was not a great time for style but to each their own. Maybe its the lack of trim on the edges of that panel or finishing from the factory that makes those side panels always seem ratty and flopped over the actual carpet - a side console throw rug if you will?

I'll likely fab up a pair myself and cover them with black vinyl that has a grain similar to the dash but I thought I'd canvass the masses and see if anyone had any experience with something similar. (or has a similar dislike for the factory panels)

I've never seen them on a late C3, but I'm with you, I don't like the carpeted sides either. I'm with you, I plan on fabricating some as well. I'm hoping to see some installed at Corvettes at Carlisle tomorrow...

Unfortunately I won't be making it there. If you happen to come across any, can you snap a pic or two please? I'm interested to see what they look like and I won't be back home for some time before I can get a chance to do them myself.

Supporting vendors have leather covered tunnel side covers at about $200. You could get the bare composite wood ones at $30 and cover them.
I Google "leather side panels 78 corvette" and got several responses.

The 77 panels might work for you with a little tweaking.

That never even crossed my mind - too fixated on 78 to notice the obvious. (and that's why I look at this forum so frequently - good advice that is sometimes too obvious for me to notice.)

Cheers
