Default 69 electrical issue

On my 69 the Amp/Battery gauge is jumping and the lights go brighter as it jumps around. The alternator was replaced @ 10 years ago and it doesn't have that many miles on it. The battery always has a tricle charge connected when its sitting in the garage.

Can someone give me some direction where to start, or possible things to look at for?

I would check for a bad connection at the battery terminals, ground wires and the horn relay. Do more than look at them, remove the wires, clean the connectors and reassemble. It sounds like a loose wire.

Nope. It's built in beginning with the 69s. 68s are the only C3s with a voltage regulator on the fender skirt.

It may be the regulator, but because I'm cheap I like to start with the free stuff.

I like free stuff too. The dash has a ground on the left side A-pillar- it's 100% beotch to get to- behind the dash pad about 2-3 inches above the hood release. And it's in a perfect place to get wet. And not make good contact.
Check every ground you can find.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I thought it might be a grounding problem.
