Putco Plasma LED bulbs
I've tried regular LED 1157 bulbs in the tail lights. Not overly impressed. Read an article about the new Putco Plasma LED 1157 bulbs. Anyone tried them? They're quite a bit and I'd like someones opinion before I lay out my $

Talking with a buddy - he had a set ! I bought 'em and WOW are they bright. Major major difference. Didn't have to get and aftermarket flasher. Plug and play. REALLY GOOD upgrade !!!

The best bulb you can use in place of 1157 is a 3496. You can get them from your local Honda dealer. Part number is 34906-SL0-A01. It draws the same amount of current as 1157, but is much more efficient. It produces 43 candlepower on the bright (brake or turn) filament, and 3.5 candlepower on the dim (tail or parking) filament. It is filled with krypton gas (Inside of bulb won't blacken with use) and has a nickel-plated base that is much more corrosion resistant than the plain brass base of an 1157 - feels like quality when replacing and less likely to stick in the socket. For comparison, the 1157 produces 32 and 3 candlepower, so the 3496 bulb is 33% brighter when braking or flashing turn signals - times when you really need the brightness.
THE BEST PART IS THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO MESS AROUND WITH REPLACING YOUR EXISTING FLASHER (NO GOING INTO THE DASH) OR FINDING A PLACE TO MOUNT RESISTORS LIKE YOU DO WITH LED's.

LED tail light
Just bought the same ones today because his YouTube was soooo convincing. His are called Plasma LED's and they look much brighter than the regular LED's. Another little project, I can't wait!!!!

Some time ago I bought some LED RED 1157's for the rear of my vette, yes they are BRIGHT, but the way they made them, they will not fit the sockets.....I was going to mod the sockets and housings, but honestly it's too little gain for so much work....

I've been using 2357 bulbs for a few years. (40 Candle Power)
They are readily available from any automotive store.
The Plasma LED 1157 bulbs sound very interesting.

LED's
They needed to go in just a tiny bit further so I filed the bottom 2 soldered contact completed flat and there was still lead covering the contact points. They turned right in!!! I removed them and liberally smeared dielectric grease on all the contact points and now I feel like a genius!!! They're at least two or three times brighter. These are called Plasma LED's and I bought them from West Coast Classic Cruisers after seeing their YouTube.
