A quick update for any and all following along. I brought back my two 72 powder coated frames on Thursday and then retrieved a 75 coupe on Friday. Now with everything home that is coming home I wanted to give a quick update on where I am moving forward next. Enjoy. David
First thing I ALWAYS do before rebuilding a chassis is assess what the "bones" are that I have to work with. I did this earlier with this chassis and found the front end damage that I wanted repaired. That is done and the chassis has been used to transport my 72 project frames, but that is done now, so now it is time to get this chassis restored and back out on the road.
Initial assessment says this chassis already has a good platform upon which I can start building a great chassis.
I am pleased to report that this chassis has the VB&P Touring suspension on it. That means the Bilstein shocks, VB&P struts, VB&P front and rear sway bars, VB&P front tie rods.
I will be removing and continuing to assess the components from the chassis, more on that progress in future posts.
The 69 chassis restoration made some progress today with the assessment and plan for full restoration and the addition of a matched set of 69 wheels with new Cooper Cobra G/T tires on them. The building of this chassis will fall in behind the restoration of the 72 chassis which begins tomorrow. Stay tuned...
