Yet another part removed/discarded by the previous owner of my 68 convert. I finished uncovering the back up lights that were glassed over by the previous owner and filed/sanded to get the correct contour. Will paint later. put bulbs in to check lights...........nothing. Crawled under the car and found the PO also removed the back up light switch and bracket when he installed the Hurst shifter. So.. another parts order to Ecklers. Gotta love these shade tree mechanics.

Ron I know what you mean, I have had my car for about three years and my lights has not worked the entire time. I started checking and found the wires under the hood to feed the backup switch. Checked under the car and found the switch on the transmission, the wires had been broke off at the switch. I picked a switch at a corvette parts yard here and installed it, plugged the wires together and turned the key and sure enough they came on. I was happy I did not have to look for some other problem. Hope it works out for you, good luck.

Larry- I'm getting the major stuff fixed on the car, which has good drivetrain and paint, but the electrical system is a nightmare of cut and spliced wires and poorly assembled fasteners following the re-paint. I just started poking around under the dash and found the fiber optic lines all rolled up and tucked up in the rats nest of wires. Also spent an hour installing the rear bumper bolts, which were left off. Two bolts were the smooth head bumper bolts installed without the square hole to keep them from turning. Did some serious swearing getting them off and replaced.

It seems Bubba is strongly attracted to wires and painters never reattach weatherstripping, door switches, screws etc. 90% of the things I have to do or undo is because of Bubba.

I like the white tape. Looks like cloth first aid tape for bandages. Too bad Bubba could not have gotten those cut wires next to something to short them out and start a fire! RA
