Default Restoration

Hi,

I'm plugging along in my restoration and have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help with.

I'm ready to install new ball joints I ordered from Ecklers. They have the rubber covers and I thought I'd just replace them with the poly that came with the kit, but the rubber ones are glued/sealed on. With that, I've read differing opinions on whether to torque it down with the rubber lip on top of the upper arm. I'm thinking of removing the rubber and using the poly, but not sure if the rubber would be better since it's sealed? Any thoughts?

Also, I ordered new rear bearing assemblies from vansteel. They look great, but I can't figure out how to get the parking break actuator lever installed. I've tried every way and can't figure out how to get it in w/o having to take the spindle off, which partially defeats the purpose of buying it assembled. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks,
Peter

Peter, you may want to post the year of your car. Do you have the AIM book for your car (Assembly Instruction Manual)

Definitely, and also pick up a GM shop manual for your year. It will repay you many times over.

Hi,

Not to sound even dumber, but I did get the assembly manual, but can't seem to find more info about the parking brake actuator going through the splash guard in there. I see the cables, and I see the trailing arm though no details on it.

I have a 75 Corvette. A pic of my problem area is attached. Also, the dust cover I think is more of an opinion and hoping to get your thoughts on it? This is my first attempt at a restoration, so apologize for the novice questions.

Thanks,
Peter

Default Parking brake

Do a search on the C2 forum. Most 65s and all 66 and 67 used the same parking brake as the C3s. I know there was a You Tube video on the C2 forum addressing the rebuild. In any event, you can find a video or two directly posted on You Tube. Good luck. Jerry
