I have never seen a c3 like this on the street, (I'm usually in the c5 section so forgive me if this is more common than I think) most of them look like 4 wheel drives. How come more c3 owners don't do this to their cars? Is it taboo to lower a c3? I've always figured they would look much better lowered....
what do you c3 guys think?
Not my taste; I own a 1969 Corvette and I like the stock stance. Maybe I am showing my age but, I don't like the slammed look or the "murdered" look or 20's all around; etc. I think the General did an outstanding job with the C3 and I like them basically stock or equipped with "Day 2" modifications. (Cragars, flip top gas filler; etc.)
I have no idea, pic was from corvette forum main page, I never see c3's lowered, I always wondered why, but I'm a c5 guy.....they are all lowered and look good to me! This pic makes me want a C3!
I'm 50 and still think it looks

Because there is so little ground clearance you would scrape those pipes on the slightest bump or using your driveway, forget about getting over a speed bump. Yes, it looks cool, but not practical for driving.

Good point on the side pipes, did not notice how low they were, but the rest off car looks no lower than a stock c5 to me. I mostly like the full wheel wells, does not look like a off road vehicle.

To each his / her I guess.
If it is your age than I am really showing mine at 30 I too prefer the stock stance. To get the stance shown would require body work to flare the fenders (especially on a 68-69) on top of the obvious extensive suspension work. Even then it probably would not be practical for anyone that wants to drive it with any frequency.
Some of us do like having a low stance. Mine isn't as low as the pics, but close. My front wheels tuck just a hair. The bottom of my front bumper rubs every so often on steep inclines, nothing to be concerned with. My 99 ws6 trans am rubs on most of the same bumps and it doesn't sit as low. I've never hit my sidepipes on anything or bottomed out on any bumps or speed bumps. Roads are hit and miss around here, I just have to remember I'm not in my truck.

Completely agree. I like C3 Corvettes the way GM made them, not lowered or customized with huge wheels.
I can't put my finger on it but some C3s look great lower some not so much. Just my opinion. I like mine a little high in back kinda 70s high school cool. I think it takes the right combo of wheels and tires and maybe a little bit of hood scoop and sidepipes to make the lower look work.
What people like about cars is just like what food they like best, its a personal taste.
For me, these modern wheels, on ALL cars, with low profile tires, like slammed roller skate Honda Civics etc. are NOT my taste. I could say something about them that reminds of a certain group, but I would get in trouble in today's society.
I like a C3 Corvette just the way GM designed it, "four wheel drive" tires and all.
I had mine lowered for a while. 17/18 wheels. It was not practical to drive on the road. It bottomed out on everything and the suspension travel was so very little it was terrible to drive. Yes I think they look very good lowered sitting in a show parking lot but I'd dare anyone to drive those cars 500 miles on streets in the northeast. Those side pipes would be ripped off. Mine is still lower than stock but not by much and it is quite drive able and now with the coil over setup it drives fantastic.
