Default 79 - Horn problems

So first off, I want to take a moment to thank you guys for the help you provided getting my baby back up and running. I fried a fusible link to the alternator which is now fixed. She's firing on all 8 again and I have power again!

Secondly I wanted to see if you all had any suggestions on fixing my horn. Of all the reasons to fail a state safety inspection "Horn Inoperable" wasn't one of the ones at the top of my list for this old girl. I mean, why would I want to honk at people behind me?!

Anyway, as I recall this car's horn has always been wonky. Last time I heard it actually honk, it sounded like a dog's chew toy. (No joke, it was the funniest damn thing I've ever heard come out of this beast)

So you all provided great advice before, Where do I start digging?

There are (2) located in the very front and can be tested by applying battery voltage to them. If they sound bad but are working, I'd just replace them. I would suggest picking up a GM shop manual for your '79. It will pay you back several times over. Available on Ebay or possibly the For Sale Forum here.

If you replace them, be aware each has its own tone, one high and one low.

This diagram and test instruction sheet should help you find any horn issue.
