Default Option Sticker

I cant find the option sticker on a 1979. Where is it located, or maybe its come off.

If the sticker is missing, is there any other way to discover what options the car has.

Thanks

I think you're talking about the build sheet. It is usually located on top of the gas tank though more times than not, it's deteriorated and illegible. Occasionally, folks find build sheels under carpets or behind the dash somewhere.

Beyond that, there isn't a terribly reliable way to figure options but by 79, there weren't that many. What option are you interested in?

No, not thinking of the build sheet. On my 95, past 87 the was a sticker in the console that listed all the option codes. From memory, a lot of years ago, my early 70 vettes had a sticker in one of the compartments behind the seat with that code sticker.

I would just like to know what options are on this 79 I picked up today. I will also look for the build sheet tomorrow.

I think the OP is referring to the Service Parts Identification (SPID) label, that's currently on all new GM vehicles. GM first used the SPID label in 1984.

From memory, a lot of years ago, my early 70 vettes had a sticker in one of the compartments behind the seat with that code sticker.
Chevrolets made between 71 to 74 or 75, came with a maintenance label in the glove box, that looked very much like the modern SPID label. It was installed on the inside of the door of the center rear storage compartment of early 70's Corvettes. The idea was that you checked off various maintenance items, as you had them done. It did not have any options, or RPO's on it though.

As I said above, the option labels (Service Parts Identification label) did not come into use until 1985. The only place on the car to find out what options originally came on the car, is the build sheet.

When Corvettes were built, there was a build sheet attached to the top of the gas tank. This was the only option sheet on the car, when it left the factory, except for the window sticker. Build sheets have been found in other locations on Corvettes, but the one on the gas tank, was the only one ever permanently affixed to the car.

GM has some build records for Corvettes built after 1976. You can find out through the following website if GM has any build records for your Corvette.

As GBvette62 writes, you can get a dealer's invoice copy from the GM Media Center for $50.00...that's your best bet.

Thanks for the valuable info. I stand corrected on my remembering option stickers on my early 70's Vettes. Just to many years ago. But I sure remember the Vettes I owned in the 70's and early 80's and wish I had never sold them DUH
