Default Help selling 69 Vette

I am recently widowed. My husband had a 69 Corvette that has sat in our garage for several years. I need trustworthy help determining the value with or without necessary repairs so that I can sell it. I know when he purchased it, he restored it with number matched parts. I am located in the St. Louis, MO area. Do you know someone I could contact.

First, im very sorry for your loss. I hope you are on the mend living single again and that you have a good female support group.

Looks like there are a few classic car Appraisers in the St. Louis area and id get a couple for comparison : http://www.bing.com/search?q=classic...onversationid=

You can also go to NADA classic car prices online but they price cars based on very general standards whereas a professional Appraiser is going to take into account many more facets about the car. I can tell you that a matching numbers 69 Corvette in reasonable condition is a sought after car , very desirable . After you get your accurate price for the car, you can contact local Corvette Clubs and advertise it on their websites, place an ad at the numerous online Corvette Forums under C3 for sale, Corvette Trader magazine and online, and a major St. Louis Newspaper under classified ads.

I wish you well. If you need to bounce anything off of us, feel free to ask away or PM me .

David. Florida.

If you post pictures of the exterior, interior, engine compartment, trim tag ec, plus any other details you know about the car, the folks here car give you an idea on its value.

Hagerty can give you a general idea- dependent on condition and options.

I'm sure all of us here are very sorry to hear of your loss. The above is very good advice and if I might add, take your time with the sale if possible, and don't give the car away. If you don't feel comfortable negotiating the sale, get some help from someone who can handle it.

While you may know this, don't invite strangers to your home to look at the car, especially since you're female,. As far as payment, don't take a personal check unless the buyer and his bank are local. In such case, go to the buyer's bank with the buyer and his/her check for its cashing. You can then sign over the title. Also, don't take certified or cashiers checks as they, too, can be bogus.

What I've always done with the several cars I've sold with significant value is to have the buyer wire the funds to my bank. (I personally don't like large amounts of cash around the house, especially if someone knows about it.) Once your bank verifies their receipt, usually within a couple of business hours, you can sign the title over to the new owner. Your bank can give you instructions on how to do this. Don't allow yourself to be pushed into anything you're not comfortable with as a honest buyer will understand your concerns.

Regarding the title, be sure your name is on it as owner. If it isn't, contact your local DMV for help to be sure it's ready for transfer to the new owner, including no liens being reflected on it. They should give you any help you need.

Good luck to you and the sale. If I can be of any help, feel free to email me at: jud149@bellsouth.net
