Default Replacing vent seals non A/C

I am working on my 72 coupe and it is a non A/C car....Has anyone replaced the vent seals on the door flaps? (located behind the kick panel.)It is tough enough for me to get my head and hands in there to see what I have. I have got the cable disconnected and out of the way.

It looks like one of the pivot pins is spring loaded....does it push in one direction and the opposite pin comes out of the retainer? I have tried to do this and have not been able to get the door flap to come loose so that I can remove it.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

The pin is spring loaded in the "outward" position. Pull the pin towards the center of the flap, compressing the spring, and move it out of the hole towards the interior of the car and the other end will slide out of its mounting hole.

I appreciate your speedy reply! Sounds simple enough....I will be back at it next Sat. as I will be out of town this week. I will update on how I make out.

Just finished putting the drivers vent door in. This was pretty easy as the rivets are soft aluminum. New seals look and work great. Thanks for the help.

I'm working on the "under dash" stuff also and you are right about getting our head and hands where you can see and work. While working on the driver's side last week I was stuck momentarily with my one arm pinned and the other where I could not push on anything to get out. Would have made an interesting obituary: "Local man found in his garage, holding shop light in teeth, pinned in the dashboard of old Corvette." RA

I just wanted to say that the same fresh air door is used on both sides. One pivot pin is solid and the other one is spring loaded. So on one side of the car, the spring loaded pin is down and can rust into the fiberglass pivot hole, making things interesting to remove it. Lou.
