Default Hardtop removal

I just took delivery of my new to me 1975 Vert with hardtop. I am having the hardest time getting the side back posts free. Is there a trick? Thanks for the help.

Once the side bolts are out the hardtop should just lift off?

I assume you are talking about the rearward ones that are like studs, and that the soft top is in the way. I leave the side ones connected ( the ones in the picture) and undo the clamps to the windshield. It now becomes a 2-person job. Unlatc the deck lid and carefully raise the hardtop and the lid comes up with it. Support the front of the hardtop (friend holding it?) and the nuts on the bottoms of the studs are easy to reach. Then let it all down, remove the side bolts, and lift the top off. The key is to keep the front of the hardtop lifted, and it will be stable on the lid, even with only the side bolts attached.
