GM/Chevrolet gave them a try in 1973 but records show perhaps four sets made their way out the door. The Mexican supplier could not solve casting flaws and porosity air leaks. So RPO YJ8 was cancelled. It did re-appear in 1976 and some 6,253 sets were sold.
Having said that I rather like them on my 1974. Not "correct" but they do look very nice. No shame displaying or driving my car.
