69 coupe carpet questions

1) Does the rear bulkhead carpet overlap the wheel well pieces at the top outsides?

2) Was the overlap an unfinished edge? I think later years have vinyl piping sewn over the edge. Any pics?

3) Were the seat belt rubber grommets painted to match the interior color?

I figured out 1 & 2), both the edges tuck behind the bulkhead. I had covered the area with dynamat.

Yes to number 3, the grommets were the color of the interior.

Thanks Willcox!

I prepped the grommets with SEM vinyl prep and painted with CA interior dye, but it flakes off.

Any tips?

If they are the repro grommets, it might be an issue with the plastic gassing out. For a long time there was a gassing issue with the 78-82 armrest which would not allow them to be dyed without flaking.

You might have to lightly scuff them with something like steel wool.. I'm not sure, but doing that may give the paint something to bite too.
