What do you guys think a 1982 with 16000 orginal miles is worth? It's all orginal and is in excellent condition. Also if I remember right was there problems with the cross-fire motor? or something else I should look for? Thank you
Being all original , low miles as long as its it good mechanical shape ( brakes , tranny , rear , etc ) it could go between 15-20K ... nothing wrong with the cross fire ( ok , im partial ) ..its not a vicious motor ...but very dependable and great on the highway ... now if you want to wake it up a bit , new intake , '85 fuel pump , exhaust will do it ..
Just my .02
That's low miles and if its all original it does have the benefit of being the last of the C3 "Stingray" style bodies which makes it slightly more collectible. The Crossfire was a one shot deal with no particular advantage that I've heard of.
If it's a good colour combo I'd say $13 - $18k.
If the condition is excellent throughout I'd say high teens at least, but I'd check it out thoroughly as there are a lot of cars being misrepresented as far as the miles.
Here are the Hagerty values for a 1982 non collector edition.
I see the low miles survivors as a mixed blessing depending on what you plan to do with it, garage queen or daily driver, while the parts do not have much miles they have years on them and these cars seem to need everything at once when a garage queen becomes a daily driver.
The cross fire engine isnt a problem and I see it as uber cool "IF" all there and working correctly,
If the car was really nice and clean I could see it being 15-18 k to the right cat.
It is owned by a dealership owner, so it has been well cared for and has things fixed as needed
That's good but still what I said sticks, I have had more than one gear head buddy buy a low miles car turn it into a daily or near daily driver and seems things broke like dominos...

What part of the country are you in? Up here in the northland Corvette prices go down this time of year so the seller doesn't have to carry it through the winter. If you're in an area where Corvettes are stored for the winter, chances are you can get it at $15k.
Prices vary around the country, but down here $18k is pretty much top of market for a mint, low milage CE. More typical they seem to sell in the $15-$16k range. I think the OP's offer was quite reasonable, but dealers are often priced high. As someone else mentioned, in the north prices on sports cars drop in the winter, and a dealer should really consider a slightly lower offer in general if a car has been on their lot a while...
Look REALLY close for rust up underneath that car. Iowa sucks for used cars due to all the road salt... Well, it pretty much sucks in general... But I'm biased since I was born and raised there.
There is still a cost to carrying through the winter that they want to avoid. I purchased my '82 about this same time of the year. It took me a couple weeks, but they eventually came down once they realized I was the only option until spring. The dealer I purchased from is large and didn't need the money, but they also didn't need that car sitting there all winter.
