Reread post # 3.....it's that round canister at the front left of the carb. If it's touching the linkage thats likely your problem.

Default Stock idle speed

Are you aware that the stock idle speed for a 1973 4 speed is 900 rpm?

Yes, I am aware of that. Thank you. Is your 350, 4 speed car adjusted to 900rpms? Just seems kind of high doesn't it?

Actually it is, but I have a different 350 4 speed engine, it's 70 LT-1 based. You are using the solenoid to establish your idle speed?

no not using the solenoid, the throttle stop has not contacted the solenoid in the 3 years I have owned the car. Solenoid is a good 1/4 away from the stop at idle.

have you checked if the solenoid is getting power?
if it is and the solenoid doesn't extend it is bad and needs to be replaced.

MelWff, although I appreciate your feedback, in the previous post I posted to answer your question
"no, not using the solenoid, the throttle stop has not contacted the solenoid in the 3 years since I have owned the car. Solenoid is a good 1/4 away from the stop at idle."
Why would I use or repair the solenoid if my car is not using it?
My carb doesn't hit the idle screw at idle either. That is the main issue I am trying to resolve.

Judging by the appearance of the carb, it has been rebuilt at some time. It's possible that the primary butterflies were not positioned correctly when reattached to the shaft. There might be interference preventing the shaft from rotating to a full "idle" position and causing your non-contact problem. Look down into carb and examine the position of the butterflies.
