Default Wiper door open on 69'

Hey fellow forum members. I hope one of you can help with a wiper door problem on my car. it is a 69' 427 convertiable. Everything was replaced or rebuilt during restoration of this car. On initial start up my wiper door opens. I can lower it by hand with little resistance. It then stays closed. at all other times the wiper door and headlights doors work as they are suppose to. I have replaced all lines and have checked the routing of each. Any help with this problem would be appreciated.

More than likely the wiper arm vacuum switch is defective. If you replaced this switch the odds are you purchased the imported version and they are made wrong.... it will leak.

My advice is to bypass this switch and start the car... if the problem goes away you've found your culprit. You bypass it by connecting the black with red strip to the black with a white stripe hose... Don't turn on your wipers though.. just test to see if the door stays shut.

Then buy this USA made valve... it's the only true working one in the market.

If you go to that link I have a video on how to check the valve too.

Then you have found your issue... They are junk... They were designed to not leak vacuum on the lower tit... which is wrong. The valve must hold vacuum on the middle one to operate correctly.
