Default Help identifying a dash wire appreciated!

While installing new carpet and repairing a dash gauge in cluster I noticed a wire hanging around and I can't figure out what it's for... I do have a photo of it but my computer crashed and I just bought a new one and haven't got everything sorted out yet to insert the photo and I know there are some pretty smart fellows here that probably know what this wire is for with out the photo as I am working on car as I write this but about to call it a night.. Anyway it is a 2 prong wire clip with a solid black wire on one side and a black wire with a thin white stripe on the other side... The wire comes from the main assembly harness that comes from behind the speedo and tach and then the plastic 2 prong clip ends behind gauge cluster? I have the AIM and a chassis assembly manual but I couldn't seem to locate that wire.. It for a 69 no air Corvette. I will be working adding photo in the mean time... thanks for you help in advance...Russell

I believe that is the ammeter connector. The fuel gauge should be pink/brown.

Thanks.. I will check there also.. Last I was convinced that it did go to one of the cluster gauges... I thought that I could see behind it good enough to eliminate the gauges.. But I will just have to get the cluster were I can see it better..thx

Amp or ammeter was the correct issue... I just can't believe I couldn't see it last night... But from the angle that I was looking the prongs coming out of the gauge was pointing towards the drivers side making it hard to see... But thanks guys... I may have never found found it unless I was focusing on that gauge... Thxs again to all that help with suggestions....r

I brazed small allen head bolts ( maybe 10/32 ) onto the heads of the four gauge cluster screws. These act as thumb screws, so that I can easily take the back off of the cluster. Hope this trick helps someone. Lou.
