Default Chevelle 5 spoke rally wheel on a '77 Photo?

Hello everybody,

Happy Holidays -

Anybody running the old Chevelle 5 spoke wheel - the one that has the trim ring.

I've always liked that wheel and have the chance to get a set, but I'm usually against the cross platform wheel exchange.

Anybody have a photo of them on a C3 ?

Thanks,
Frank

If you are speaking of the 69-70 gray and silver spoke wheel that used the wide trim ring, originals were 14X7 and probably wouldn't fit over the calipers. Reproductions are made in the 15X8 size, but I am still not sure it would work on the Corvettes.

Good point!

The OP didn't mention which wheel he was referring to, and since I owned a '71 SS454 Chevelle at one time, I immediately thought of the wheels that were OE on my car. With respect to caliper clearance, C-3 calipers are both big AND wide, and many aftermarket wheels, or other Chevy wheels won't clear them.

Is it these 5 spokes? I was considering them for my '69.

Yes - those are the wheels - at 7" I'm not sure yet - the ones I'm looking at are 15" and look perfect, they are powder coated. $650 - no tires.

Thanks,
Frank

While I do think that style of wheel would look good, the width would be an issue for me. $650 for four of them in good shape does seem like a fair price as well. I'm heading in this general direction myself eventually with some Torq Thrust D wheels.

Those are the same ones as the ones that were OE on my Chevelle SS. They're 7" wide, and if their width doesn't dissuade you, make sure they clear the calipers. Secondly, being that they're an inch narrower, the tires will be an inch further in the wheels wells. Might look a little strange.....

Year One also make the Corvette Rally wheels in modern sizes - they have a polished lip instead of a trim ring...
