Default Any ideas?

I just bout this Vette a few days ago. I bought it to learn how to work on motors...We changed out the fuel filter and got the motor running but there is too much air going into the air filter. This is my first time working on cars but I am learning a lot. Anyone have any idea why it is taking is so much air?

Why do you think it is taking too much air?

My first guess is you have some vacuum leaks. You probably need to check for unplugged ports off the carberator or intake.

I've never heard of someone have "too much air" going into their air filter

since you have a 1980, when the air filter housing was removed to change the gasoline filter, a vacuum line running to the air filter housing may have been left disconnected causing the vacuum leak and the increased idle speed.
