Default Steering Linkage - Help!

1970 454 Corvette.

Sorry to ask what is probably a very silly question but I have not tackled this job before.

I am trying to remove the power steering cylinder, I have removed the pin from the screw thread at the threaded end that connects through the steering relay rod, but the nut turns without unscrewing what do I need to do, I notice a grease nipple on the opposite side does this need to be unscrewed with its cover to get at a hidden bolt head?

Regards
Paul

Are you referring to the nut on the relay rod, or the attachment at the frame bracket? I believe there is a "flat" on the end of the cylinder rod where it passes through the frame bracket. If it's the relay rod end, tap on the back side of the cylinder to seat the two pieces together. That should keep the threaded part from rotating.

the whole purpose of the cotter pin hole is to prevent nut from turning when something is in it, just saying Phil

Yeah, I got it wrong. Stud may need to be reseated or nut or stud could be stripped. I hope not. mike...

The connection in question is in line with the oil pan in first pic.? Connection is similar to second pic.? I will let the other guys make suggestions. mike...

Default Thanks for your help

Its the other end of the power steering cylinder, at the right side as you sit in the car (not the end near the driver front wheel), where it is linked to the relay rod through a hole at the end of the cylinder. There is a nut on a threaded section here that fixes them together, the threaded section and nut are turning together, and the nut not unscrewing.

Diagram attached.

How do I add a photo of the problem to this thread?
