Default C3 on late model drivetrain question

Hey all. I spend my time over in C5 but my dream has always been to get into a C3 resto-mod (sorry #'s matching folks). I've always love the looks of the L88 style racers (flares etc..) and I keep my eye out for them on the market. A few years ago I was at Carlisle and there was a tent by a builder showing off multiple examples of these (tube chassis with either C4 - C6 underpinnings). Obviously they were not cheap and a grabbed a brochure but unfortunately I lost the info and I don't believe they were at Carlisle last year. Anyone remember who they were? I absolutely love how my 03 Z runs and handles but...no Vette (to me) looks better than an early C3!!

There's a few out there. It's not going to be cheap.

All up, roller, ready to go. Add engine, trans and body (and anything else, needed to pull it off)

This is a basic frame, you add a C4 (cheap enough, you can easily score 1984 for under $2K), strip it, transfer the parts and there you go. Add an LT1 and the ZF 6 speed and you'd be doing pretty well

Finally, a third one, here. They go basic to all up or whatever your wallet will handle.

There's others as well. Type 'Custom Corvette Frames' in Google and stroll through.

Not a bad idea. If you could put a frame that has a full-up C4 suspension under there, you'd have a heck of a nice handling, nice riding C3 Corvette. Mate that with the last of the traditional SBC's, the mid-90's LT1 or LT4 (it will fit on the stock motor mounts) and a ZF 6 speed and you'd be rocking. The LT4 was conservatively rated at 330 hp. Some say 360 horse to nearly 400. It'd run pretty well in a C3, that's for sure.

Thanks all. I'll keep looking for someone selling one already done or close to being done. My dream is to have the look below with modern LS-7 or LS-9 motor, and late model suspension. A man's gotta dream!!

Modern cars are wider so flares are a must.
