I'm working on my 82 interior lights. All of my mph and tach bulbs were burnt out except one. I replaced all of them and only the one that was originally on is working which is the top left on the tach side and later I got the left middle on the mph side to work yet the rest don't work. How do you test these twist and turn sockets? Or does anyone got any advise for me?
Go to the nearest auto parts store and buy some new ones. I had the same problem as you do. I don't play when it involves taking a dash apart to get to something. When I had the dash apart on my 80 I just replaced them all with the bulbs. Problems solved. I also replaced the wiper switch and the headlight switch.

You test the socket by inserting a bulb into it... then apply power to one side and ground to the other... the bulb should light.
The fingers inside the sockets can be spread open and you can get a small screw driver behind them and pry to tighten them up.
But.. usually the best case is to just replace the socket and bulb.
