If you are going to run R12 you can do it.. If you are going to use 134A it won't work. The POA for the VIR system was only designed for the R12 freon and R12 pressures. 134A is a different animal.

You'll also need two special tools to rebuild it.. if you look you can probably find them on ebay.

You can buy the rebuild kits direct from old air.. and it might be worth your time to give them a call about the issues with 134a.

i was told to use 134 i needed a different/bigger condenser (not by old air). is this true? what special tools are you referring to? old air said the kit is straight forward, replacing two canister seals, the bag, and a pick up filter. they don't sell anything for the valve. they said those rarely go bad.

The valve rarely goes bad... and the last time I needed one I found it on flea bay.. If you are not replacing the valves you won't need any tools. It takes two tools to replace the expansion and poa valves inside... For the record, the tools are Kent Moore p/n J-24181-1 (for the expansion valve) and the other is J24181-1 for the POA.

The bad part about this is the POA won't handle the pressures from the 134 system... Me personally working on a customers car... I don't like taking a chance with either valve and I try to replace them.. (only if the guy is running r12) It's a hard road for you guys with the VIR systems.. The by-pass kits have had their bumps in the roads too.. You'd be be better served going with a bypass valve and switching it over

IMHO-
