I am installing the transmission cooler lines into my TH-350 on my 79 C3. The transmission is a new B&M unit and thus did not come with the connector & washer and unfortunately I do not have these from my old transmission. The AIM shows a connector & washer to be inserted into the outlets on the transmission before the transmission line fittings are inserted. Before I consulted the AIM I installed the lines by screwing the fittings on the transmission cooler lines directly into the transmission without he connector & washer and they seemed to tighten. I assume they that the lines will leak if I do not have the connector & washer installed?
Thanks, Colin
The washer is questionable but you must use the "connectors". You are going from an npt thread in the trans to a flared line.

I replaced the lines a few years back in my 78 keeping the base 350 tranny and it was a bear. Seems I recall reading where that connector protect the transmission housing threading so the connector and flare nut get the wear. Plus, it helps tighten and loosen the line and flare nut from the connector/transmission connection.
Thanks for the input. And now where in the hell to get some from.....

If only it were that easy. I originally sent my old transmission in to be serviced and they told me it was toast. They quoted me a pretty big number to rebuild it so I decided to purchase the new transmission instead. When I finally got around to ringing them to collect my old transmission they told me they had thrown it out. Unfortunately I had left all of the "accessories" on it and they got thrown out too. A valuable but expensive lesson for me learnt from the exercise. Because I live in rural Australia I find it hard getting the right advice sometimes, but them the breaks! Thank god for the internet and forums like this.
