Is there a way to definitively tell if my car was a factory A/C car? There is no compressor. It does have the A/C controls but that could have been added.

In most, it would be a pain in the butt to add, but really, you have to use gut feeling for much, since it is possible to build anything that the factory built.
If it all looks old and has a certain aged look with dirt and old parts, it most likely is.
It is easier to tell if it was added than if it was original by the things that shouldn't' be there. Like if the Astro Ventilation vents are functioning, it didn't have air originally most likely.
If it has clear glass, it probably didn't as tinted was required with AC back then.
If there is a fresh air vent in the passenger footwell, then again no.
In engine bay, is there a large "box" coming out on the firewall on the passenger side of the engine or is it basically flush? Are there levers or cutouts in the shift plate for the duct levers, the factory A/C did not have them. Are there vents above the center gauges? Any of these are other part of the factory A/C
I agree with other posts though that it would be wierd for someone to put A/C parts in a non A/C car. It would actually cost some money to make the car appear like it once had A/C when it never did.
...Is there a way to definitively tell if my car was a factory A/C car?...
Do you have any original factory documentation with the car?

True, but it is a major PITA to install factory AC controls during a swap. Most owners would not have fooled with it. Check for a flapper door tucked under the top of the right side fender at the end of the wiper trough. That's a reasonably good sign of factory air. Driver's side cowl and kick panel events will be closed off.
You could also check the C60 options section in the AIM for other factory air goodies.

I don't know where the definite answer is however I found out on my '68 roadster by the grommet hole in the firewall where the wiring harness passes through. Mine appeared to have left the factory with a/c however when I tried to feed the wiring harness borough the firewall the connector would not go through. After I scratched my head bald I looked at the aim. It showed a smaller hole (5/8" I think) for non a/c cars and a much larger one for a/c cars.
