Default Identify Part

I am trying to figure out what this part is. I am installing a vintage air and stumbled across this part which was not plugged in when I came across it. Obviously it is not needed to keep the car running, but would like to know what it is beofre removing it all together. Thanks all

It is the amp for the original radio. It is a heat sink with the DS-501 transistor. They rarely fail (said by 2 radio rebuilders) but get tossed when owners switch to aftermarket radios. It has some value and you will need it if going original.

Thanks toylman. Since I am doing a pro-touring resto I wont be needing it, but I certainly wont throw it out either

with Toylman.

I'm considering a Vintage Air system also for my '71. How is the install going on yours, (i.e. any major problems)? At least mine is completely disassembled so hopefully that install will be easier than yours...

I did my VA a few years ago. There's nothing particularly difficult about it - just take your time and follow the instructions carefully. They changed some of their parts after some posts here on the forum and are now including some hard parts to run under the steering column. Makes the job easier.
