Hi all. I am trying to do something probably nobody has attempted to do with a C3 corvette. Is some sort of futuristic approach.
I am trying to put a sound linked to the opening of the front head lights. I want the sound to be played when the headlights go up and when they go down (so two sounds total). I pasted the 'opening lights sound" link to hear what it sounds like:
Does anyone have any good electronic knowledge on how to setup this? I forecast this has to involve at least these three things:
1)A pair of speakers to be placed on the front of the car, somewhere beneath the chassis or lateral so that the sound can be heard properly.
2)A minimal computer motherboard that contains the sound
3) then the speakers have to be wired to the motherboard and the motherboard wired to the light lever in the dashboard, so that when I push the lever from the console to turn the lights on it starts the sound.
WILD IDEA.......................... but I like the concept!
Try something simpler like a self-contained "sound-box" that you can add your own "sound" to it/you really need only ONE speaker............
Maybe EEEEEEEBay has something?
Thanks for the idea........you just saved me $500! I was going to install a set of train horns/compressor in my grill to scare off these pitiful Louisiana drivers on their cellphones who constantly drift into my lane.................
BUT.............................I'll go your route..........12" sub woofer/"sound-box" connected to horn relay

Your welcome...yeah, hehe, I see where you are going...
but in my approach, I don't know how to play the sound? what stores it?...it has to be a motherboard to play such a complex sound, right?

Google " recordable sound chip" they are stand alone recordable circuits that can be tied into an amplifier and speaker. They can be activated by any number of triggers.
Wholly MOTHER of GOD! It already exists assembled?!?!?!!?!?!?!?! WTF!!!??? Thanks so much Richard man...woaaa...So I just need to hook the start button to the lever controlling the lights...then add an extensor wire to reach the front of the car, install it there, add the amplifier/outdoor type of speaker and thats it, right?
Thank you so much!
Siol
I would tie in a relay off of the lights at the nose of the car and supply power off of the same source. It would keep everything for this job located at the nose.
Thank you for the suggestion Strokemyaxe. But I don't know whats a relay or how it is used. Can I just hook the power lights to the motherboard to power it? won't the voltage be too high, destroy it? Thank you siol.

I think the module on EBay operates on 5 volts DC......you definitely need to "drop" the voltage into the module itself.
Pretty easy to add an amp- output voltage is 500mv- basically preamp level-and would w/ w/ any small car audio amp- and you could just use a RCA y adapter and be able to run two speakers.
IIRC- it has a USB port that can be used for power- just get a 12v USB adapter.
Hi Richard545,
I don't understand anything you just said...
How I pre-amp level?
whats a 'small car audio amp" ?
Whats IIRC? I get a 12v USB port then what? I hook it to the motherboard, then what else?
How I drop the voltage from 12V (this is the voltage the C3 battery uses, right?) to 5V that the motherboard chip uses?
Ok guys, I made a diagram cartoon on the problems I need to solve in order to accomplish what I want to do. Can anyone help me in understanding what I need to do, what pieces I need and where to hook it forpoints 1,2,3,4 so that this idea works?
Thank you a lot
I use the harness for my electric headlight conversion- when you turn on the headlights -sends out a signal- turn off the headlights sends a signal. Simply plugs inline w/ your low beam headlight- no cutting or switches required.
Audio amp- can be found on eBay-basically used for motorcycles.
Ok, I understood a lot now. But I still have operational doubts.
I got the 15w+15w audio amp.
Also I got the 3.5mm Audio jack
I attach the picture to confirm what I think I understood.
Now I need to know:
How exactly I hook up the relay? I get the basic idea but I need to know specifically which cables go where?
I understand from the female side a little. Is the blue cable the ground?
Where I attach the ground to?
I see the female side and male side have three cables total. How I hook them to the relay?
I don't understand the wiring from the male side, cant see it from the picture.
then, the USB to board...I have to somehow plug to the battery cables, rigth? then to the USB jack in the motherboard?
regarding the 15w+15w amp audio:
what cables to into the +12V ground jacks? and again, where I attach the ground to?
Sorry, I had no clue about electronics till know, but I can learn and I do it fast.
