Does anyone know a way to find out where your Corvette was sold new? I am pretty sure my '72 was sold new in Chicago but am wanting to know what dealer, address, sold it. I am 2nd owner (for 12 yrs). Thanks
You can try the NCRS for a shipping data report for your car. If the NCRS has your VIN in their records, they may be able to tell you the original dealer the car was shipped to when it left St. Louis.

The tank sticker has the zone/dealer information that shows where the car was to be shipped after it left the factory. This may be the same info contained on the NCRS shipping report that Easy Mike mentioned. That offers a strong clue, but doesn't prove that it was actually sold by that particular dealer. The better piece of documentation is the protecto plate, which shows the dealer information that was given to the original owner of the car upon delivery.
I believe even if you do have the zone code and dealer number from the build sheet, it can still be difficult, as there is not a complete list of dealers and zone codes, at least last time I checked on mine. somewhere there is a database/list that people continue to update as information becomes un-earthed...but there is a lot of missing info, and duplicate/conflicting information.
I attached a screenshot from the list, I don't recall where I downloaded it, but it may help with a search...
...$40 just to find out where it was sold new....a little pricey I think...
That's up to the individual owner and whether the owner wants the information. Knowing the original dealer can be a first step for folks trying to put together a paper trail for their cars.
I have no regrets paying the $40. I had a sense my 68 had never been far from home. The original dealer was forty miles north.

Agreed...I paid the fee myself. Mine sold new 120 miles away.

I've got you both beat. My '75 sold new 2 miles from my house at a dealer that's still in business. Found it after it was parked in a garage 25 miles away for 20 years.

NCRS, in most cases, will get you exactly that information. I think you will have to join first before you can pay for the information so the total cost may be a factor. No guarantee they will have the info for your car, but here is what I got for mine:
Unless they had 2 locations, DeAnza Chrvrolet was dealer code 171 for zone 34, San Diego, CA.
I'd double check with the NCRS.
You paid for information it should be recorded correctly as well.
Mine was from dealer code 172.
Friendly Chevrolet, Rialto, CA.
It is a shell station today.
It closed in the late 60s early 70s.
I guess my 68 was sold towards the end of the dealerships time.
DeAnza is Sigh Chevrolet today.

wow, our cars are almost siblings...mine is #4664, built November 14th as well....
Sorry for the bum scoop on my part. I checked last night and DeAnza Chevy did have two dealer codes assigned maybe differing on the later cars.
151 and 171 are both correct.
It later was sold to Singh family who are still in business.
Moderator would you delete my earlier posting so it does not mislead anyone.
Thanks,

Hello, just curious how long did it take for them to answer your request?
After using the NCRS service, I found the original purchaser of my '63 coupe. Early in the conversation I was able to confirm this info with him. That $40 was one of the best values ever.
On the flip side, they did not have the info on my '69.

It was worth it to me. I was quite surprised to find the car had been sold in Huntington, WV., since I had purchased it in Hartford, CT, and to my knowledge it had been there the entire time.
When I removed the tank sticker, the Zone 40/Dealer 135 info correlated to the shipping report, so that helped complete the picture for me..
