My Stock rims on my 81 are all 15x8. one is bent a little and wont balance. it is next to impossible to get 15 tires where I live. i want to convert to 17 inch and my question is do I need to change anything with the brakes also do I need to worry about offset. What off set would I need?
The stock 15" wheel has a 4" backspace. The stock tire is 27" tall.
If you go with a 17" wheel that is 8" wide stick with a 4" backspace.
If you want to stick to a 27" tall tire a 255/50-17 will be the same height.
Stick to backspace as opposed to offset it keeps things much easier.
I hope this helps.
