Default 73 corvette sunvisor mounting

The outboard screws that hold the sunvisor bracket have nothing behind them. The screws go into thin air. What is supposed to be there? They go into the chrome windshield corner moulding, but it is just a very large open space. It looks like there should be a speed nut there or something but the metal is too thick for a speed nut to go around. Driver and passenger sides are the same.

Not sure about 73, but I seem to remember clip nuts on the windshield frame of my 71.... the screw went through a hole in the trim, and into the clip nut behind it.

Bruce I just installed the windshield trim on my 74 and I think the 73 would be the same. On page 100 of my AIM is the sun visor install details. They show the speed nut being installed from the bottom. That is not possible I had to install the nut from the top before I put the corner chrome pieces on.

Thanks, that's what I thought but can't get the speed nut on because the metal is too thick. Will try again.

Ya, no matter what I try, I can't get them on from the bottom. Will have to try taking the corner piece off but I think someone before me glued it on.
