so i bought a rust free 75 l-82 4speed with 91k actual miles in dark red. interior its 9/10, exterior is straight but paint is 6/10 and t tops don't leak. I want to make more power but dont know where to start. I was thinking cam and heads but dont know what to go with

L-82 already has a pretty good cam.....go with a set of headers and exhaust system for the most power gain. Go through the ignition system/plug wires and upgrade that too. I like NAPA ignition parts and Pertronix HEI modules.

There is a C3 tech/performance section if you want more opinions (not that I always agree with some of those guys)

I really want about 350 rwhp 350 tq. I looked up the cam and it looks good. Headers and true dual exhaust are in the works now

350rwhp is frankly going to need a really nice set of heads, good exhaust system (headers, dual 2.5" pipes and good mufflers) and probably a different cam. A roller cam will help here.

Solid's advice to do headers and exhaust first is good - you'll find a very big gain for the bucks there.

I had a 75 for 25 years ,well my wife did made the mistake of letting her drive it back on '91 and got it back in 2010 , if I recall mine had a holly carb? and shorty headers made a good power improvement .Does yours have a cat. converter ? There are a lot of good used parts ,heads, exhaust out there cheap .Have fun

Wow great deal! But yes let's have some pics!
Assuming it's healthy the bottom end of the L82 is a brick chit house, all forged. If you want that kind of power and good manners, a roller cam kit in the.500/230* range and good set of Aluminum heads with 64cc Chambers. Airgap Intake and good carb of your choice. Believe me piece parting it is frustrating and never ending.

Start by tuning the car you have and driving it for a while to get acquainted with it. You may find you like it as it is.

Congrats on the 75.

Congrats on the 75.

My sentiments exactly! Drive the car thru the summer, it'll tell you what to do next. Every summer, my car creates a plan for what I'll be doing the next winter.

Shoot, South Florida is year round for you guys. I really only have about eight weeks that are too cold up here. There just aren't any cruise-ins/car shows from December thre February in our area.

My two cents is buy a new crate engine that has what you want. Also think about the trans and rear.

You've got a bit of a road ahead of you to get to 350 hp. Like Nowhere Man said, a crate motor is gonna be the quickest and maybe easiest way to your goal. I was in the same boat as you last year with my 77. 350 HO Turn Key and a TKO 500 to replace the stock 350 and 3-speed auto made a world of difference.

Making that Hp is a peice of cake in a SBC. the possibility are almost endless. Have you looked at a Jegs or Summit catalog. There are more go fast parts for a SBC then ever. All you need is cash and you can go as fast as you want. It's been that way since the 350 came out almost 50 years ago. The problem is for the op your working with a 40 year old worn out motor with unknown problems that will rear there heads when you start adding go fast parts. You can either build your original engine to your specs and spend months at a machine/ builder shop and get what you want or just have a new one dilvered to your door

No. We had a agreement on the price and the purchase date but when I showed up today to pick up the car he decided he now wants 7k for the car after I had everything already done and even insurance on the car. He ended up lowering it to 6k but I now refuse to even deal with him no matter the cost. Apparently I can sue for my lost time since I took off work to buy the car but I am just gonna walk away

I am with the previous poster. I couldn't figure out if you bought it or not. So, with my previous answer it might be a good thing. The car did have some type of problems.

Good luck with your search.
