Ladies and Gentlemen, I have the 81 with a totally "emissions free" performance engine that is highly modified. I am looking to remove anything under the hood that is not necessary to clean up the engine compartment, does anyone know what I can and cannot disconnect? I have the vacuum lines connected correctly to make the wipers and the lights work properly, but I also have a lot of plugs and wires that are not connected to anything anymore with the recent engine rebuild and would like to scrap them if I knew which ones I could pitch, especially on the firewall
I'm sure your not using the computer harness. I removed mine and the computer. There is a green wire in the computer harness that is the power wire for the A/C compressor just make sure you re run power to compressor
Here is picture of green wire by hood switch, it has a connector in back of distributor. I cut off connector on computer harness side and made my own power wire back to AC compressor.

Thanks for your help, I am not using the computer at all and performed a rather radical engine build with a four speed transmission and aftermarket everything on the engine. I do use the vacuum though for the lights and wipers, just had to add a vacuum canister to give me a little more for the brakes and light pop up. I recently am installing a MSD box and coil and needed some room on the firewall and noticed all kinds of plugs and loose wiring that probably doesn't need to be there. I got the car all original and there was enough crap hooked up to put someone in their grave

Thanks for the pictures I like your engine compartment, very clean
JNYWADD,
Does the NY in your screen name stand for New York? If it does, you might need some of that stuff to pass vehicle inspection. On the other hand, if the NY stands for something else, consider yourself very lucky that you don't live here in NY! High taxes and too many laws (like the safe act) take the fun out of life.

NY requires a safety inspection for a c-3 .. Depending on where you go they may look for a converter BUT most inspectors have no idea what you should and should not have for emissions and the inspection is a simply safety check. lights , brakes , horn and suspension ect ..
