Default Broken seat back , can it be fixed?

I have a drivers side bucket seat that the back frame is broken and cracked. Is this common and can it be fixed??

Anything can be fixed, Fabricate a longinsh piece of heavy sheet metal, but a bend in it to fit behind the two broken pieces. You could weld it, but a dozen or so steel pop rivets will secure it better than new.

If you have a small airport near you go see if there is a repair place and ask if they have a dozen Cherry Max rivets . These are super strong and will do the job .If you can't find some let me know I may have some .

Just curious. What type of seats do you have?

not a vette, but had a Saturn that the seat back broke in the same spot. thin metal, but was able to weld it back together just fine. I think I added some pieces of steel to stiffen it up as well. just clean the rust off real good and get anything flammable away from it when you weld it.

FYI I can tell just from that one pic that those seats are no from a Buick but from a Olds Cutlass 1970 model year
