Default need some info

i am looking at buying a 1976 corvette, here in Australia. The owner has just lost interest in finishing the project. He is telling me all the BS, strong motor all electrics work everything is good, except he is over the car, it was a father/son project (which did not work out) it will need a complete interior, door trims, carpets, might be able to get away with seats, will make up my mind on seats if i doe the 1 hour 45 min drive to see the car. what i need help with is, there is a pic of the driver side inside door caveity, which has me concerned just does not look right

top of photo looks like it is coming away from the body

any comments about this photo will be appreciated. i have not looked yet, but is trim for a 76 readly available trim code 642/Leather LT Beige. Thanks in advance

My 2 cents:

All C3's I have seen look kinda rough in this pocket. Check ebay and find some photos or the internet and I believe all will look similar. Do the outside body lines line up?

642 is buckskin light which from your door panels looks like my 642 buckskin 76 I had.

Check out this forum if you have not already for what to look for and if possible take a knowledgeable mate with you on C3's. The biggie concern for me is rust, how bad and where at.

Hope this helps and good luck with the hunt!

Shadows in pics can make things look worse or exist that don't. Once you see it in person ( if you haven't yet) you will have a better idea. Did you read the "10 things to know before you buy" thread. It will help with the hidden rust areas. If the panel moves when you press on it then its a concern. If its a smooth transition from door to cowl its a lot less of a concern unless the door panel has been built up with plastic. Check the front inner fender for repaired damage and it will tell you if that side of the car has seen problems.

Good luck
Cheers
