If at first you don’t succeed, then try and try again. That motto certainly paid off for Larry Fisette, who had been trying to get his hands on this 1978 Corvette Pace Car for 27 years.

Awesome car! But........ I guess it depends on your position on the life time scale. Where I'm at now I see it as a waste of an opportunity.

I was a young man when these '78 Anniversary cars came out and the pace car was the king of speculation. They were snapped up at unbelievable prices for a future pay off (now?).

The original owner could have lovingly kept the car pristine and still enjoyed it occasionally. But he kept it in a wrapper for someone else, his grandson. His grandson said 'thanks gramps, now where is that buyer?'

I blame a certain someone for this mania of keeping a car as low mileage and original as possible so you 'don't ruin the value'. Problem is YOU the owner never get to truly enjoy the car for what it is.

Here's hoping the current owner takes his turn behind the wheel.

Problem with cornering the market on those they were selling so good I think Chevy made more pace cars that year then regular cars.

That may have been literary hyperbole, but for the clarity of the thread, they did not. There were about 6 regular built for every Pace Car replica.
