Default pace car interior colors

I need to replace the console cover in my pace car but the silver dye available from all the vendors seems like it is way too silver. Any ideas on what to use?

That's because those vendors do not know any better. The soft vinyl components were not silver but a smoke gray. I took an armrest to an auto paint shop and they mixed a quart of the smoke gray that matched up pretty good. They used a computer-matching and used the inside part of the armrest as the color source.

Using an airbrush, I painted (restored) armrests, seatbelt covers. Because the console cover was torn, and as you have learned, not made in smoke gray, I purchased Oyster colored console cover and I haven't gotten around to airbrushing it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your response, I have asked several vendors about the color difference and they think I'm crazy Pace Car Silver is Pace Car Silver according to them! I would think that there is something available, certainly that is not the only time they used that color...

Yeah...all they do is look at parts books. Most have very limited practical experience. I took one of my painted seat belt covers to a Mecum Auction and compared it a a very low-mileage L48 Pace Car. Spot on! I may have a picture of before and after. I'll have to look.
