So it's Tuesday so that means that tonight my wife will be watching the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and I will immediately go to the garage and mess with the 82 Vette. I clearly have the better end of the entertainment spectrum.
I have a few random projects things figured out but one thing I'd like to do is double check the condition of the U Joints. I don't have a real reason to think that they are faulty but I've had the car for about two months and I have not checked them yet.
What is the best way to do a garage level inspection on the U Joints to get a read on their condition?
My long time C2-3 Corvette shop mechanic/owner said that the I-joints will turn an unmistakable brownish color to betray their failing condition. I asked him to check them out.
By the way, the 1982 was designed and installed with both, super heavy duty u-joints and a pcv tubular housing to protect them from the elements trying to avoid premature failure - one of several C4-like enhancements unique to the '82, so make sure you order the right part # if necessary.
