I have searched for this topic and found a few threads but has anyone used the Jensen DUBS240 for the dash speakers? Will they fit? I'm not looking for any crazy sound system but I would like to update the 35 year old speakers in the car. Also, what would be the best speakers and direct fit for the rear speakers? Sorry if this has been asked multiple times before, but everytime I search I never really get the answer I am hunting for. Thanks in advance.
Those little 4" would probably work although the front is actually a 4"x6". The only rear speaker anyone has found that would fit with the stock grilles, no modifications is an Alpine SPR-69. The magnet is small/shallow enough on those to not hit anything. You may be able to get others to fit in there with a spacer on the stock grille. I have some Pioneer 6" round 3-ways in there now just because I already had them, and they fit with the spacer. I'll eventually switch them for the Alpines. Mt fronts are 4X6 Boston Acoustics. There are plenty of threads where guys have made custom boxes, etc if you want to go that route. I wanted everything to at least kind of look stock. Good luck,
Ok, well after much work and frustration, all 4 speakers and head unit installed! Pictures to come soon. Nothing crazy, no subs or kick panel speakers, just the 2 dash speakers and 2 rear optional speakers replaced.
Glad to hear you managed to find dash speakers which fit. I spent days searching. I finally found a pair of Kicker 4x6 which has a flush-mounted tweeter that didn't run into the grill for my '79.

It was a tight fit for me as well but I used boss audio 4x6
I was able to fit Alpine Type R 6x9 speakers in the rear with no modification at all, and Alpine Type S 4x6 speakers up front with no mods either. I also have a 5 channel Kenwood Amp in the cubby hole located behind the passenger seat, no mods needed there either. And have a custom subwoofer box with a 10" JL Audio Subwoofer sitting in between the 6x9's. And still have room for the t-tops to still flat in the back, in a padded case. Just in case anyone was wondering if all that is possible, it is!
Tried to upload a short video clip, but not sure how to do it.
